General Manhowers is a minor recurring character on the Venture Bros. He is voiced by Christopher McCulloch.
Character history
General Manhowers was a member of the Boys Brigade in the 1960s that later became a general for the United States Army. In the pilot episode, The Terrible Secret of Turtle Bay he purchased a number of Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture's Ooo Rays, which made for excellent destructive weapons despite Dr. Venture's development of them for peaceful purposes.
Manhowers bought and used inventions and weapons from Jonas Venture Sr. and later Jonas Venture Jr., but not Dr. Thaddeus Venture. Manhowers is aware of what a failure Rusty is and was unimpressed by the attempt he made to show off to him when he came to visit the Venture Compound in the episode The Doctor Is Sin.
The Venturestein was one exception. He ordered a hundred of them, hoping to use them as soldiers and especially as mobile suicide bombers. Manhowers came to regret this as Venturestein later organized a rebellion of scientific abominations in Puerto Bahia. Manhowers then orders Dr. Thaddeus Venture to go in and destroy them.
In The Unicorn in Captivity, one of the heads seen in silhouette on a telescreen within a virtual reality simulation appears to be him. However, he does not speak so it is unconfirmed that it was indeed actually the General.

Trivia
- In the initial pilot episode, he is seen in a uniform for the U.S. Air Force. In the Season 1 DVD Commentary for the pilot, the show's creators joked that he was merely a rich lunatic.
- He was voiced by Peter McCulloch in the pilot episode The Terrible Secret of Turtle Bay. In all subsequent episodes he has been voiced by show co-creator Jackson Publick (Christopher McCulloch).
