Dr. Thaddeus "Rusty" Venture (if only to get a hold of The Oo-Ray)

Otaku Senzuri is minor character and villain from the Venture Bros.

He appeared in the pilot The Terrible Secret of Turtle Bay attempting to make off with The Oo-Ray, but he has also made several appearances as a background character in several later episodes.

Character History[]

Otaku Senzuri is a powerful man aligned with the Onami Corporation of Japan and a resident of Tokyo. He is served by Kikai.[1] At some point in the past, he was friends with Phantom Limb and attended one of his parties.[2]

In "The Terrible Secret of Turtle Bay"[]

While receiving acupuncture, Otaku Sezuri was notified by Kikai of Dr. Venture's plan to show off his invention at the U.N. Science Expo. Senzuri thanked him and threw an acupuncture needle into his neck, seemingly killing him. On the contrary, Kikai woke again soon thereafter, the crick in his next removed and also seemingly cured of his addiction to smoking.

At the U.N. conference, Otaku Senzuri briefly met Dr. Venture and expressed his excitement to see Venture's invention. That night, Senzuri attempted to poison Venture, but was unwittingly interrupted by the arrival of Hank Venture and Dean Venture. The next day, Otaku Senzuri sneaked into the conference hall, seemingly to steal The Oo-Ray. Dr. Venture, the U.N. Science Director, and some guards caught him soon there after. General Manhowers explained Senzuri was a technology fetishist, somebody who could only achieve full arousal in the presence of high technology. Senzuri wasn't actually trying to steal the ray but rather masturbating. Senzuri was apprehended and taken away, showing a look of embarrassment or shame on his face.

In Later Episodes[]

After The Monarch and Dr. Mrs. The Monarch were approved for duoship by the Guild of Calamitous Intent, Senzuri showed up to help the luchador dressed in a red uniform and other villains to rebuild the Cocoon.[2]

Later, he was present at Don Hell's bar when Brock Samson and Shore Leave infiltrated it, though he played no major role in the events that occurred there.[3]

He was among the Guild members who attended the meeting at Don Hell's nightclub following the death of The Sovereign and the loss of most of the Council of 13

Trivia[]

  • His name is a pun on the Japanese word "otaku", which refers to people with unusual or obsessive interests, which describes his technology fetish. "Senzuri" means "1000 strokes" and is a euphemism for masturbation.
